TUVA education

If you already have basic Finnish language skills but want to improve your language proficiency before starting upper secondary education, you can apply to the TUVA programme at Stadin AO. TUVA is short for ‘preparatory education for upper secondary qualification’ in Finnish.

In TUVA education, you can

  • explore the fields of study in vocational school and general upper secondary school (‘lukio’)
  • complete studies from both vocational and general upper secondary school
  • get guidance on applying for further studies
  • improve your basic education grades
  • improve your basic Finnish language, digital and communication skills
  • learn about working life and different vocations.

You can study in the TUVA education for up to one school year, i.e. 38 weeks. TUVA education is full-time studying.

The teacher will create a personal study plan with you, and your parent or guardian will be involved, where necessary. In the plan, the teacher will write down your studies and their schedule, your further study plans, as well as details about teaching, guidance and support.
