Accessibility statement
This accessibility statement applies to the Helsinki Vocational College (Stadin AO) website at stadinao.hel.fi. The City of Helsinki is responsible for the website. This statement explains how accessible the website is and how you can give us feedback on accessibility.
How accessible is this website?
According to the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, public websites must be accessible, i.e. everyone must have equal access to them.
This website largely meets the accessibility criteria required by law (WCAG 2.1 criteria, conformance levels A and AA). The website has significant accessibility shortcomings, which are described in more detail below.
Content that is not accessible
This website is not fully accessible. The content or functions listed below do not meet all the accessibility requirements set out in the law. We are constantly working on repairing identified accessibility shortcomings. We will update the list of shortcomings in this statement as we are able to correct them.
- The videos lack audio descriptions or media alternatives. (WCAG 1.2.3, 1.2.5)
- The website contains PDF files with accessibility shortcomings. The files lack semantic elements, are not named at all, and in some cases use technical language properties that differ from the language of the content. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.2, 3.1.1)
- The language versions of the site contain images with text alternatives in a different language to the main content. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- There are some images on the site whose text alternatives do not adequately describe the content of the image. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- The home page of the website contains textual statistical information, which is presented in image format. (WCAG 1.4.5)
- There are some links on the site whose context cannot be inferred from the link text alone. (WCAG 2.4.4)
- Some content pages have content in more than one language, but this content, which is not in the primary language, does not have its own language attribute. (WCAG 3.1.2)
- The title of the page is in a different language to the content of the page. (WCAG 2.4.2)
- The visual and technical names of the contents of the accordion do not necessarily match. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Sub-menus of navigation menu items have additional ARIA attributes. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- The accessible name of the logo link that returns to the home page is incomplete in both the English and Swedish versions of the website. (WCAG 1.1.1, 2.4.4)
Content not covered by legislation
Accessibility requirements do not apply to the following content:
- content used for teaching for a limited period of time in a limited group
- content published in the service by users or other third parties that is not produced, funded or controlled by the service provider itself
- manifestations of works in cultural heritage collections that cannot be converted into a format meeting accessibility requirements
- maps that are not intended for navigational use (e.g. weather or terrain maps)
- office software files (e.g. DOC, PDF, ODT) published before 23 September 2018
- online content archived before 23 September 2019
- live video or audio transmissions that are not stored for preservation or republication
- video or audio recordings published before 23 September 2020
Accessibility assessment
The accessibility assessment was carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the City of Helsinki and using methods that aim to ensure the accessibility of the service at all stages.
Accessibility was verified through an audit performed by an external specialist. Accessibility was verified using a programmatic accessibility verification and manual inspection of the website and content.
