Applying to initial vocational qualifications and TUVA education

The joint application procedure for basic education graduates in the spring is held annually through Studyinfo. The most recent joint application round took place on 18 February – 18 March 2025.

The joint application process is mainly for those who have completed comprehensive school and do not have a previous qualification.

Stadin AO’s application options include:

  • initial vocational qualifications and
  • preparatory education for an upper secondary qualification, TUVA.

There are no entrance or aptitude tests for the joint application programmes. If necessary, the applicant is invited for a Finnish language test.

Finnish language skills required

If necessary, we will assess your Finnish language skills. Most of the studies for Stadin AO’s qualifications are in Finnish. Only the Initial Vocational Qualification in Tourism Industry is available in English.

The results published on 12 June 2025

The results of the joint application will be published on 12 June 2025.

  • Stadin AO will send an admission message to all those who are accepted.
  • The waiting list positions will be valid until 15 August 2025.
  • The studies of new initial vocational qualification students will mainly begin on Tuesday 5 August 2025. More detailed information about the start time and location, as well as other important details, will be provided in the admission message and on the Finnish-language page Lisätietoa yhteishaussa opiskelemaan valituille.
  • The studies of new TUVA students will begin on Thursday 7 August 2025 at 10.30.
