About Stadin AO

The most diverse vocational school in Helsinki 

Stadin AO is the largest upper secondary-level vocational school in Finland, offering training for young people, adults and organisations. With us, you can choose from for nearly 30 different qualifications and gain skills in over 50 vocations. Our main language of instruction is Finnish. Only the Initial Vocational Qualification in Tourism Industry can be completed in English

In addition to vocational upper secondary education and training, we offer further and specialist vocational qualifications, continuing and short-term training, preparatory education for an upper secondary qualification (TUVA) and apprenticeship training. Our apprenticeship training options include all vocational qualifications as well as apprenticeship training for entrepreneurs. 

Stadin AO has 14 campuses around Helsinki. Nearly 22,000 students study with us annually. 

City of Helsinki owns Stadin AO. 

Education for the needs of working life

Studying at Stadin AO is practical and flexible. When planning studies, we consider students’ prior knowledge and skills.

Stadin AO engages in close and diverse cooperation with employers, from small businesses to large corporations. We train skilled professionals to meet the needs of working life. 

International opportunities for students and staff

Internationality enhances knowledge, skills and experiences that will also be beneficial in working life in the future. 

Our students can gain international competence both in Finland and abroad. A training agreement period can be completed at an international workplace in Finland or by participating in various international projects. Students can go abroad through an Erasmus exchange programme or by arranging a work-based learning placement independently. 

There are also opportunities for our staff to internationalise through mobility periods and international projects. 

Entrepreneurship studies as part of the education 

At Stadin AO, we aim to promote an entrepreneurial operating culture, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education. Entrepreneurship studies are part of vocational education and intended for all our students. 

Through these studies, our students can enhance their professional confidence and learn various ways of working for their future careers. Entrepreneurial skills are also developed through different projects and events. 

Showcasing industry expertise through competitions 

Our students can develop their strengths by participating in competitions in professional skills, culture and sports. Taking part in competitions is a great way to showcase skills, network, gain experiences and learn new thing.

Stadin AO is actively involved in competition activities. Over the years, our Team Stadi has achieved excellent results in various vocational education competitions.
